These pages are dedicated to Ben Coke, who is the author of “John May Jr. of Virginia: His Descendants and Their Land”. Ben made it possible to pull our family together with his book. We corresponded on several occasions by mail and email.
Our work’s genesis began with the research of my great uncle, Ansley Irvin May. My father, Donald Lee May, myself (Linda Lee May) and my brother, Donald “Scot” May have continued Ansley’s work. Ansley began this research in the 1940’s and it has been continued by immediate family. Ansley and my dad, Don May, did all of their research without the help from the World Wide Web. I remember my dad talking with various family members on the phone. He recorded these conversation but I have been unable to locate those recordings. I can’t imagine who excited they would be to use the World Wide Web today.
